INVESTMENT OF 1,844 BILLION VND TO UPGRADE DONG HOI AIRPORT

NDO - On July 22, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that it is coordinating with the winning bidder to deploy human resources and equipment to construct the project "Construction of passenger terminal T2 and expansion of aircraft parking lot" - Dong Hoi Airport, Quang Binh province.

According to Decision No. 2571/QD-UBND dated September 14, 2023 of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, the decision to approve the investment policy and at the same time approve the investor for ACV to implement the project "Construction of passenger terminal T2 and expansion of aircraft parking lot - Dong Hoi Airport, Quang Binh province".
The project includes 2 component projects implemented on an area of over 15 hectares, with a total investment capital of VND 1,844 billion (100% capital of ACV).
Specifically, for component project 1, a new T2 passenger terminal - Dong Hoi Airport will be built to the southeast of the existing passenger terminal, with 2 elevations, an area of about 17,567m2 of usable floor space; construction of an overpass infrastructure system in front of the terminal, car parking lot, connecting roads and other systems to ensure synchronous and effective exploitation.
The project will be completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2026, increasing the capacity of Dong Hoi Airport to 3 million passengers/year, serving domestic passengers.

Component 2 project to expand the aircraft parking lot (build 4 new aircraft parking positions, increase the total parking positions to 8 positions code C) with cement concrete pavement structure, steel mesh; build drainage system and synchronous aircraft parking lighting and signal system. The project strives to be completed and put into operation in the first quarter of 2025.
According to the representative of ACV's leadership, the project implementation will be an important foundation for Dong Hoi Airport to improve its development in the future, in line with the general development of the aviation industry and also a driving force contributing to the effectiveness of socio-economic development, especially for tourism - the spearhead economic sector of Quang Binh province.
Previously, due to special reasons, ACV and the People's Committee of Quang Binh province agreed to cancel the groundbreaking ceremony of the project and all the expected expenses for the groundbreaking ceremony will be transferred to the Quang Binh province's Scholarship Fund to support poor students who overcome difficulties to study well in the locality.
ACV is committed to proactively implementing the project to ensure the plan and progress set out.
Dong Hoi Airport is 6km from Dong Hoi city center, 300m from National Highway 1A, reaching level 4C according to ICAO standards with a runway size of 2400mx45m. The 2-storey passenger terminal is fully equipped with equipment for aviation and non-aviation operations, with a traffic volume of about 500,000 passengers/year.
In recent years, the operating capacity has exceeded the design capacity, so upgrading Dong Hoi Airport is an extremely necessary need for the development of Quang Binh province.
